The Fugly Truth

I've watched "The Ugly Truth" today. My first impression was "That guy's a pig" followed by "The truth sucks". Those impressions got me a "You're no fun" from the monkey. I have to admit that, from the preview, I thought it was some sort of movie that would tell girls to dress up like bimbos to please men. I was happily proven otherwise. After all, Mike falls for the Abby-version of Abby unlike the a bit too dashing doctor, which proves that staying yourself is perhaps the most important thing if you want to meet someone who will like you for you. True, you don't fall in love at first sight with a personality. But love at first sight might deceive us as the guy (or the girl) can turn up to self-centered, extremely bad tempered or simply stupid.

I was talking to a friend of mine not long ago about how I was tending to act differently than usual in front of a guy that turned my leg into Jell-O and how, after a guy was interested in me without ever seeing me, I realized that staying yourself is the key to one day find someone. She said it was very common for girls to act differently in front of guys they had a crush on but that you end feeling much better when you are with a guy with whom you can be as silly as can be without him running away for his life. My opinion is as followed: if you act like somebody you're not and end up marrying the guy or the girl, you'll live a lie. Unless you reveal your true personality once the honeymoon is over which might result in a divorce or a happier life for the both of you.

In the case of SL, falling at first sight is nearly impossible as falling for an avatar's appearance is slightly creepy... like if you fell in love with one of your Sims... ewwww. Anyway, if we fall for someone in SL, it's because of their personality and you find about their personality by becoming friends with them. Friendship is the start of everything and staying yourself is the key to success.

That's the fugly truth. Goodnight.

Here's the end of one of my favorite movies.
