Coordinates lists... what's so bad about passing them around?

So, I was reading yesterday on My Second Life on the D-List that Ding Fotherington was banned from I don't know what (I think a store) for passing a list of coordinates of the Key hunt (that hunt where you have to pay 200L$).

I'm not about to write about coords lists to restart the whole debate nor to complain about any content creator, but just because I've been thinking about it since yesterday. It also reminds me of a certain debate regarding freebies.

So, it seems that some people don't like it when lists are passed around. Yes, if they are rules that clearly state that no cheat list should be made, it's normal for the organizer(s) to grumble. BUT, how can they possibly control that? I remember doing a hunt with a friend who was writing coordinates so that she would know where to go with her alt. She also gave me the list in case I had any alt or any friends that would be interested in the hunt. 'Course, I didn't distribute it to a list of subscribers, just to one friend of mine. Does the designer know? nope. Were they any rules regarding lists? No idea, since I heard about the hunt on a freebie blog that didn't put the list of rules if there was any. Should someone be banned for doing a cheat list and giving it to his/her friends? Maybe, but how can the designer know. Even if they are rules on the blog related to the hunt, not everyone takes the time to check the blog. If some do, they won't necessarily bother to read the rules if the list is as long as the wall of China.

Me? Well, I'm a cheat list lover. Why? I'm impatient and I get cranky when I've been looking for the object containing the prize for an hour (it did happen). I'm also a roleplayer and have other things to do in my virtual life than to look for a tiny weeny object containing a crappy object. What I hate the most is when the object is hidden really well in a huge store. You look everywhere, inch by inch, to make sure you're not gonna miss the object. With the cheat list, even if the store owner has changed the object of place after finding out about the list, you can just skip it and go to the next one. Without the list, we find it and get a headache in extra or we just abandon the hunt. So, with the cheat list, you find the prize containing the LM of the store and the gift and you don't associate that store with the splitting headache you got while trying to find the gift.

Then again, I think I know why store owners of big stores decide to hide their hunt gifts really well. They think that, by looking around, we will see everything they create and end up buying. Ok, maybe some hunters do that, but I don't. Why? 'cause my mind is not set to shopping but to hunting. I'm looking for the flower/lips/heart/egg/key/etc. and I'll cam around with only that in mind, not caring of the different products around me. Ok, maybe I'll notice the type of product that is sold in that store, but that's it. I have to admit that I don't really go back to stores that have participated in a hunt unless I remember the name of their store, which doesn't happen often even if I spent an hour in said store. I do hunts for the free stuff, not to necessarily discover new creators or for the fun of hunting.

Anyway, to go back to the coords list, I don't see why people are making a fuss about it. I mean, even if their is a rule regarding said list, breaking it won't kill anyone, no one will be injured physically. As I already said, some may grumble and it is unfair for the ones that don't have said list but are having a hard time doing the hunt. But banning/threatening is useless since many groups I'm sure and many individuals pass around cheat lists they made or they found. It is something that will be impossible to stop. Even if the creator changes the place of the hunt prize, a new list is easily created. So why can't we just let "cheaters" cheat in peace, as all they are doing is use an easier way to finish the hunt, to just see hunts as something fun that help noobs and avs with a low budget get quality stuff for free and that give others a nice challenge that won't end up giving them a headache, thanks to a certain list.
