My last exam of the semester is DONE! I can probably now say that I understand American politics more than most Americans (especially the ones who say "Keep the government out of my Medicare"). I'd like to say that I'm gonna take a break from politics, unfortunately, I have to go vote this weekend since I'll be in the US on election day in Canada. Lets hope that this time, our canadian version of Bush (Stephen Harper) won't become Prime Minister again. The US have Obama for heaven's sake (even if they don't appreciate him as they should). To end the political part of this post, I'll say this: " Harper's government is just a big cover-up (read too much about the Watergate), so vote for the party that can actually form a government. Harper needs to get out."

Now, about SL. I bought a cat, not for the whole breedable thing, but just because I always wanted a cat and probably will never be able to have one because of my cousin who is basically allergic to nearly everything and her allergic reaction to pets is asthma. And yes, I see her often. I also did the Season Hunt (Spring Edition). Guys, there are two stores on the list which are guy stores. If you are looking for a new bed, do the hunt, I think I got 3 beds. The Molto Bene bee is outside the tiny weeny house, under the roof. It seems no one was able to find the Addict bee. That's about it.

So... That's all for now. (Yes, I know my outfit is not Oval Office worthy... Can a girl be lazy every once in awhile?)

Happytown!!!

Recently, I learned many things that made me happy. First, I got accepted in German Studies. So after my American Politics exam, I'll be done with political science. Until then, I still have to do a research on the Watergate scandal *sigh*. Now back to what made me happy. I found out that you can use PS brushes and pattern on Gimp without having to convert them! Kinda geeky to be happy for that, I know. As for the last thing that made my day, well... it's a long story that I won't bore you with (Jody, if you read this, contact me ASAP). So, yeah, lately, I'm in a happy mood and yesterday didn't ruin it all as no one played any tricks on me (it was April's fools day).

As for what's going on in my SL lately, there's not much to say. I clean my inventory, I visit places, take some pics and... that's about it. I could be RPing, but I somehow don't feel like it. All those rules about how you are suppose to dress... UGH! And I don't really have time anyway (unless anyone wants to do my paper on the Watergate... in french. Anyone?). Oh, but I did visit the Pose fair. I'm not finished yet, thanks to the lag, but what I've seen so far is quite interesting. Oh, and guys, there are stuff for you out there as this is one of the rare fair where there are things for guys or at least unisex. You can go with your love one to try couple poses or your whole family to try on family poses, which seem to be more and more popular in SL.

So... yeah, that's about it and here's my outfit (no, I'm not going back to fashion blogging... it's really just an excuse to use Gimp)

I admit it, I'm a bit anti-social. I'm far from being a people person, especially in RL. In SL, I try to be a bit more friendly, but I still cringe a little when people I never met before IM me out of nowhere. If it's to tell me they love my outfit or wonder where I got this or that, I answer and that's the end of it. I don't mind that kind of IM. On the other end, I hate it when someone (that I don't know) IM's me and simply says "hi" (strangely, it's usually guys who do that) or comment on what I wrote in my profile (ex.: "I'm Canadian too" or "I know who Roger Federer is" or "I speak french too").

I usually reply (I try to not act like a complete savage), but I stay cold. With the "hi" I usually reply "hi..." (the "..." basically standing for "what the heck do you want") and with the random comment on my profile I simply say "oh" or "ok" (which basically mean "I don't give a monkey's butt" [aka "I don't care"]). Of course, some "hi" lead to "Would you like to come to my place to have some fun". I usually feel like hiding when that happens. It's not because I dress my avatar properly (usually not sexy at all, just cute) that it means I seek some sort of attention from the opposite sex. If I dressed for guys, I'd be naked. So, guys, if you read this, don't randomly IM a girl to ask her if she wants to do some... "stuff" with you. Even if she dresses like a slut. Oh and basically don't IM me. I'm not looking and if I could, I'd partnered my inventory (I'm seriously considering renaming my alt "Inventory" and partnering it... but that would be kinda lame... not to mention weird.)

It's probably because of those situation that when I see a guy standing alone and looking like the typical SL macho (overly muscular shape, no prim hair, sleeveless tee if not a wife beater shirt, tattoos and a skin that looks cheap) in a sim where there are no stores (at all or for men) and not necessarily empty (the creepy invite was on a sim where I was far from being the only girl), I feel like running and hiding behind a tree until said macho is out of sight. It's exagerated, I know, but as I said, I'm NOT a people person.

PS: Strangely, I mind less the random IM when I'm on a RP sim... I suppos it's because RP sometimes requires you to send IMs to people you don't know just to check something.

A train ride

So, I realized that in my folders of LM where to take nice pictures, some of them, well, weren't really nice to picture in their entirety (is that even a word?) like Alchemy Immortalis (I definitely have a soft spot for that sim). So, after two blog posts about sims, which were time consuming since you have to find the right angle and the right Windlight setting to do justice to the location, I decided to go back to the original formula of my blog: write about whatever I wanna talk about that is SL related (for the ones who started reading my blog at the very beginning: NO, I wont write about what is going on in whatever HP RP I'm in, I don't spend enough time there). Why? I suck at doing reviews of anything, may it be clothes or places. My kind of review is "I like this" or "I don't like this" without any particular reason other that it appeals to me, like the new skin I just bought which, when I tried it on, made me say "OMG! So me!". No "Mmm, I like the way the different parts of the skin are made" and so on. There are some exceptions, like Alchemy Immortalis and the neighboring sims that reminded me of Ireland (where I've been) and of the numerous sheeps one can find in this beautiful country.

So, yesterday, I decided to check which of my "Nice places to take picture" were out of date (I still intend to take nice pictures even if I'm not doing any reviews), I happily found out that one sim I was sure would be dead by now was, in fact, still there. If you are like Walt Disney or Sheldon Cooper, you'll be happy to learn that there is a whole sim with railroads and a functionning train just going around and stoping at the only train station of the sim every 10-15 minutes (I think, didn't count). Also, if you have a sim to spare, you can buy your own trainset and install it on said sim. It's only 12,000L$ (In other words, you not only need a sim to spare, but also alot of money to spare). If you have neither, which is the case for most of us, you can just head over there and enjoy a free train ride. Oh, and if you do ride the train, turn your AO off, otherwise it's gonna look like you are sitting outside of the train.

Oh, and, of course, without your AO, your sitting pose is oh so graceful... (I'm being sarcastic here). And you also rediscover the joys of alpha layers when you try to take a pic of you inside the train. If you go in Mouselook, you can look out the window and just look at the sim as the train goes around the sim.

So, while I was waiting for the train to arrive, I was listening to my iPod (in RL) and this tune started to play and I thought it went well with the train theme since trains are often related to departures in movies, one person in the train slowly leaving, and the other one on the platform, waving a handkerchief or their hand.

Pure Juice...

Didn't manage to play with the title of the event for the title of my own blog post. I know, I said this blog would be more about places to visit then about fashion, but Pure Juice is a place that you can visit. Anyway, there isn't much to say about this event.

If you don't know what to do in SL, go, it will distract you for about 10 minutes if you are a girl, 10 seconds if you are a guy (nice suits from CheerNo). For girls, if you like pink and overly sexy outfits, you'll probably totally love the event. For the others, there is a nice tattoo layer set from cheLLe (I love that brand as it is well done and very reasonably priced), nice hairs from Headmistress and Exile, few black clothes if you want some more neutral things in your inventory, furnitures and prefabs that look really nice (LOVE the one from abode... made me wish I had my own parcel of land ), skins from brands I'm not familiar with and a nice selection of eye makeups (tattoo layer). I picked up a LM of one of the eye makeup sellers and ended up discovering a store full of makeup layers sold at a good price.

In conclusion, if you are too busy this month to visit this event, don't feel bad if you miss it or, if you really want to go, find yourself 10-15 minutes (depending if SL is a pain with you or not) and it will be enough. When I went, there weren't alot of people which meant there was barely any lag. You have until the 26th to visit Pure Juice.

Alchemy can make you Immortal

Sorry for the wait. I've been busy with an essay I had to write for my English Lit. class. The sim I visited this time is Alchemy Immortalis. It's probably one of the most beautiful nature sim I've ever seen. I don't know why, but I feel like it has this lil something than the other sims. To be honest, I think I have a thing for the sheeps on the neighbouring sim which are related to the main sim (Empress and Hierophant & Inis Caiseal). Now, don't get the wrong idea. It's just that the sim in general reminds me of Ireland, and I have a funny memory regarding a sheep in Ireland and the general quantity of sheep in Ireland.

The sim is associated with the store "Alchemis Immortalis" which mainly sells things regarding fantasy/medieval roleplay. As much as the sim is well done, the store itself is a bit dark (no, my windlight setting wasn't set at "night" when I visited) and it was a bit weird.

As I said, loads of sheeps on the sims. All are in various position and there's even one going away.

The buildings are also very well done and there's a charming patisserie selling cakes and other kinds of food.

Buildings are nice but what makes those sims special is the landscape.

Oh, and that's me around the sim. :)

As I was visiting the sim, I was listening to my iPod and two songs came up that I thought really went with the sim. So here they are if you want background music while visiting.

Ice Cream Glaring

So, yesterday, my bff and I hung out at her and her boyfriend's place (where I also live because they are THAT generous). We first started at the bar inside the house where we poured drinks everywhere except in our mouth because of the animation of the chairs. Then, we moved to the kitchen where we started to "eat" ice cream. Only thing is, there are no eating animations in the kitchen chairs so I ended up glaring at my ice cream and she ended up sniffing her wrist and filing her nails with her own hands (no nail files). I hadn't had fun with my bff like that in quite awhile so it was nice. Oh and click the pic if you wanna know what we are wearing.

PS: Yeah, I know, I said this blog would be about places and all, but since it takes quite a while to prepare those post, I decided I'd also talk about funny SL moments or show a teaser of the upcoming place that'll be blogged. Why? A bit of variety doesn't hurt and otherwise I would blog like once a week only.

It's not so Bad

Yes, I'm back after a long, well-deserved break. University kept me that busy and I needed a break from SL since I had no idea what to do anymore. Fashion blogging was nice, but in a world where every ten seconds a new fashion blogger is born, you get lost and feel a certain pressure to always be up to date, to always wear new stuff and to spend tons of L$ on said new stuff. Next time you criticize a fashion blogger for getting free samples, think about the amount of money they spent before getting their very first little sample. Without them, the fashion world in SL would probably not be the same. Through them, we can discover new talents, wether it be in fashion or in decoration. They do a great job that most of us can't do (including me).

So, yeah, that was my kinda praise to fashion bloggers out there. Now back to my blog. I decided to change the topic of my blog, while still giving a certain place to clothes (I still love fashion, just don't feel like blogging about it anymore). Some of the older members of SL probably remember the blog "Mermaid Diaries" where Natalia Zelmanov showed us different places in SL. Unfortunately, it's been a year since she last updated her blog and it's been much longer than that since she did a blog post regarding only a place in SL. Now, there aren't many blogs telling us about great places to visit in SL. The only one I have in my bookmarks is brinksie* and some fashion bloggers give us the SLUrl of the location featured in their pictures. So, I decided to post more about various SL locations from now on.

The first location: NOTsoBAD. I know, it's a store, but their sim is gorgeous and very photogenic (except for the sculpted window which never rezzed properly for me, but that might just be me).

I don't have shadows enabled on my viewer since I have a Mac and it doesn't seem to work on Macs (evil SL). But shadows are included in the texture of the various builds on the sim, pictures one can take are just... WOW! Here are some of the best spots.

There are also cars on the sim (including one that crashed into a lamp post) which look quite realistic.

As I said, NOTsoBAD is a store. They sell furniture and prefabs which are also extremely well done even if quite expensive. But if you wanna take pictures in a house setting but don't feel like redecorating your house for this only purpose, you can go to NOTsoBAD and take your pictures in one of their prefabs as most of them are furnished according to the style of the house. Oh, and don't forget to join the subsribo. I once got a very nice skybox from their subscribo group.

Yes, I'm back, tried to leave SL, but didn't work so I'm back. I'm telling you, SL is a drug. Also decided that I would return to my basics which are Harry Potter RPs. I actually applied to Hogwarts United because they have the best dress code (you can wear casual clothes in the dorm and common room, when you are on your way to Hogsmead and anywhere in the school between 7pm and 7 am). The only thing is the process.

First, you fill a character sheet, no problem with that. Than, you have to set an interview time with the person who reviews your CS (character sheet) so that you can discuss the character and correct things if needed. I'm fine with that if it can be done in IM and doesn't take a decade. Then, you have to assist to an Orientation class. "An Orientation class goes over the rules that applies to Hogwarts United, and some discussion of roleplaying techniques. Every applicant must go to Orientation, before then can be invited to join Hogwarts" (copy pasted from the offline IM I got from the head of the New Admissions Department). So, even if you have been roleplaying for more than two years in a total of 9 different sims, including 4 that were HP RPs (including HU), you have to attend the "How to Roleplay 101" class. Oh, and did I mention that the rules are written on a notecard that everyone can read. They could include a set of questions in the character sheets regarding rules and ways of roleplaying to see who knows how to roleplay and who's a complete noob. If you ask me, they might be losing loads of good roleplayers who think the process is too long before actually getting to RP there. I really just went for HU because of the dress code, otherwise, I would have gone straight to Hogwarts Prevail (stricter dress code according to what I read).

Recently, I started to read RL fashion blogs to get some inspiration for my own outfits in SL. Sorta prevents me from shopping like a maniac in SL, since the RL stores that are named in those blogs do not exist in SL, which allows me to rediscover my inventory... Only thing I haven't found is something that could resemble the Miu Miu pattern... You know, the one with all the black birds...

Anyway, so, today, I decided to be inspired by the blog CHICMUSE. The blogger lives in Paris and dresses so glamorously and yet it looks simple and not overdone, it's amazing. Another thing I find amazing is that she can pull off the "red lips by day" look, which I think only a few ladies would have the guts to try (I know I wouldn't dare try it on RL me). Anyway, I really recommend that blog.

Hello my lovelies (and Monkey), I am back from the wonderful city that is NYC, after two pair of shoes, 3 tops and a book. Not much to say today, but in the next post I might give you some tips on how to not spend like a crazy person in SL or how to highly frustrate store owners (what? they want us to spend like crazy persons at their stores).

So What?

Now, before I end my lovely tale regarding my trip to Walt Disney World I just want to say one thing: I do not agree with the fact that SLDD makes both shoppers and creators pay to give access to the first to items at a reduced and give the possibility to the second to put items at a reduced price for a restricted number of people. I'd rather pay full price an item than pay a third party to pay less for items created by creators that I love and who are amazingly creative. There, that's it. Hate me for writing that if you want, but I'm not a fan of people who take advantage of shoppers and their love of bargains and of creators and their love of making customers happy.

Now back to Disney World. So after my day at the Magic Kingdom, me and my parents went back to our room to prepare ourselves for dinner as we were going to eat at an elegant restaurant. I had no idea where we were going to eat, except that it was at a Disney Resort. We took a taxi and as I finally realized we were going to the Grand Floridian, I was pretty sure of the restaurant where we were going to eat and turns out I was right: the Victoria & Albert, which is named after the famous royal couple and is the best restaurant by far in all of Walt Disney World. Seven services of delicious food in small portions... I was in food heaven. On my dessert plate, it was written in chocolate "Happy Birthday, [my real name]" (no, the waiters didn't start to sing "Happy Birthday" as it is an elegant restaurant). I was becoming very emotional and then the harpist (yes, there was a real harpist) started to play "Beauty and the Beast"... I was glad I wasn't wearing mascara. Seriously was the best day of my life.

The rest of the trip was fantastic. Thursday I went to the Mall at Millenia, which is the best mall I ever saw and we've been going nearly every time we are in Orlando since since I'm 15 years old. If you live in or plan to visit Orlando eventually, you HAVE to go there. My parent's got me my bday present there: a big Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag (anyway, bigger than what I'm used to have... still trying to figure out what to put in my new handbag). It's light brown, so it will go with everything and I'll be able to take it out during any season. White handbags are a big no-no in Canada, thanks to winter... A white bag in winter is just weird.

On the last day of the trip, I did the Kim Possible World Showcase adventure. Well, only the UK mission as I didn't have much time as we were taking the plane on the same day and had fastpasses to ride Soarin' for a last time before leaving. It was really fun! What?! I used to watch that show every morning before leaving for school.

So, that's all. Won't bug you with my wonderful trip to Disney World anymore... until I go again :P

Sorry if I put in your head a certain song due to the title, but I have my reasons to have chosen said title. So today, I'm gonna talk about pro-life vs pro-choice... KIDDING! No, I'm gonna talk about my day in MGM and y day at the Magic Kingdom during my bday.

So, Tuesday was Disney's MGM Studios, which is now known as Disney's Hollywood Studios, but I'll keep referring to it as MGM... kinda say how old I am (20... geez, don't go imagining I'm 50). *sigh* So, I first went to pick up a fastpass at Toy Story Mania and then went in the stand-by line to play it since it was early and the waiting time wasn't that bad (it was 45 minutes... which is really good for that attraction) and the waiting area is air conditioned. I scored 108,300 points that time. Then, I went to see "Beauty and the Beast" and after we went to eat since our fastpass were good for after lunch. THE place to eat fast food in MGM is Pizza Planet, named after the pizza place we see in the first Toy Story movie. Downstair you have arcade games and upstair you have the tables (few tables downstair and outside). Then it was time for Toy Story Mania again. I scored 118, 700 points, which meant I had manage to beat my parents and my dad's former high score (118, 300). I was so happy! (Monkey, shut up, I know you are probably able to score 450,000 points or something (that was the actual high score of the week), but unlike you, I don't play shooting games 24/7). We went back to the hotel after doing the Great Movie Ride because my feet were killing me. When we went back to eat at Mama Melrose, we saw someone we didn't expect to meet: James, one of the guides we had in Italy when we went on a trip with Adventures by Disney. In fact, he's the one who spotted us, which I think is a miracle since we did that trip about 2 years ago and he must have been with many group since our big group full of Americans, me and my parents being the only french-speaking people in the group. What are the odds seriously?

Ok, now, my birthday at the Magic Kingdom. First thing you gotta know is that, when it's your bday and you are staying at a Disney Resort, the hotel gives you the button you will wear on your birthday in the arrival pack. If you stay at another hotel, you have to visit Guest Services to ask for a button (or whatever it's called... in french it's called a "macaron"). By wearing that button, every Disney employee who sees that button is suppose to wish you a Happy Birthday. So, I pinned my button on my shirt before leaving the hotel and off I was for a magical day. The first Disney employee to wish me a happy birthday was the guy who greets people at the entrance of the hotel. Many Disney employees wished me a happy birthday and I felt so special, even if I do know that they wish happy birthday to anyone wearing the button. Some even said "Happy birthday, [my real name]" since you can write your name on the button. That day, I did Splash Mountain for the very last time of my life as I was soak and I definitely don't like the big drop at the end, did 3 times Big Thunder Mountain, followed by Pirates of the Caribbean, followed by the Jungle Cruise, followed by the Haunted Mansion, followed by It's a Small World and finally, what I had been waiting all day long, going to see Mickey Mouse. You may think that, being 20, I'm too old to see Mickey. To that I say: "Shame on you. You may dream to be an adult, but I don't. I still feel young at heart and know what, when we both gonna be 50, I'm gonna look much younger than you because I will have been able to keep my lil heart young. Mickey represents to me my childhood and my dreams, so I'm gonna go visit him no matter what you think." Anyway, what was great is that Minnie was also there and Mickey noticed my t-shirt (Mickey and Minnie sipping an ice cream soda) and then showed it to Minnie, then they noticed my lil button and hugged me and were so nice. Seriously, if you ever get the chance, you have to celebrate your birthday at Disney World, most preferably at the Magic Kingdom, which is truly the most magical place on Earth and, if I ever had doubts, it was proven to me the day of a birthday I'll never forget.

HELLO! Hum... sorry, felt like sounding overly excited to post after my break, partly due to the fact I was at Walt Disney World, which this post will mostly be about (while the LOTD will have nothing to do with it...).

So, for my bday, I asked my parents if we could go to Disney World to celebrate my birthday. Being more the 5th of May, I was usually celebrating my birthday during school year until this year, since I entered university and we finish in late april. So for the first time in 20 years, I had the possibility to celebrate my birthday on my favorite place on Earth. The plane sucked (if you live in Quebec, NEVER take Air Transat). We were first suppose to leave at 6:45 am, which gave us nearly a whole day on our first day, but the flight was then moved to 4:30 pm, which meant we arrived at around 7:30 in Orlando and would probably be at the hotel around 9pm. As for the plane itself, the seats were uncomfortable and it's a good thing we took the seats next to the emergency exit, as we had loads of places for me and my dad's legs (I'm 5'7", my dad is 6'0") while the other seats were so close to each other, I think even my 5'0" tall mother would have lacked space for her legs.

Anyway, enough with the plane. The hotel was great (even if my mom complained about the room). As for the temperature, it was... hot. Really hot. We were told that it wasn't the usual temperature in May, which is good as I was trying to imagine how hot it could be in the middle of July... yah, rather not think about it, might dry just thinking about it. In fact, it was so hot we did "Impression de France" (the movie at the french pavilion at EPCOT) twice during our trip. I was soaked in Splash Mountain while wearing my jean skirt (we were just getting splashed a little before they renovated it), and it was dry after 45 minutes and God knows how long it can take for jeans to dry. So, yah, it was hot like that all week long.

First day, we went to EPCOT (walking distance from our hotel), did Test Track, Soarin' (I loooove that ride) saw the different topiaries (it was the Flower & Garden Festival when we were there), did different attractions around the World Showcase (except "American Adventure", did it twice in my life, so, since I'm Canadian, I think that's enough) before going to eat at the restaurant at the German pavilion (ein, zwei, drei, tik tak tik tak oi oi oi... sorry, they say that every time I go when it's time to raise our glasses). It's a buffet, so after we had ordered our drinks, we went to pick up some food. When we came back, a family of fat and ugly Americans were sitting at our places. The waitress, who had seen that before we came back, tried to make them move to where they were suppose to be seated, but they wouldn't budge. We were tired and hungry, so we didn't make a scene (Canadians may be too nice, but French Canadians have the word "French" in front of "Canadian". Be rude when we are in a bad mood, we will yell at your stupid face. Be rude when we are tired, we will glare at you and will make sure that you sense we wish you were dead and we'll make comments about how badly you look in french.), but we didn't like the fact we were bumped, so doubt we'll go back anytime soon. Anyway, the food never changes. After dinner we did Maelstrom in Norway (the pavilion, not the actual country) followed by The Gran Fiesta Tour, formally known as El Rio del Tiempo (now you follow The 3 Caballeros around Mexico, while before, you were just seeing different old dusty scenes of Mexico... including some disco-like Mayas... I miss the disco-like Mayas...).

The next day was Animal Kingdom, where we did Kali River Rapids, ride where you are sure to get wet, which is good when the heat is killing you. We did the Kalimanjaro Safari, where we saw a lion! Really rare thing to see as they usually hide in the shade, but since we did it in the morning, the heat wasn't a killer so many animals were out, including giraffes and elephants with their babies. We did Dinosaur before lunch, as you don't want to be shaken a lot after eating lunch.

Mmm... seems like I have a whole lot to write about my trip... oh well, I'll write more in my next post as I don't want to bore any of you.

I saw champions!

Yesterday, I went to see "Stars on Ice" an ice skating show full of former (or actual) olympic and/or world champions (mainly all Canadians, but there's one guy I had no idea who he was, but he sure could do a backflip). There was Jamie Salé and David Pelletier (the Salt Lake City gold medalists... remember the controversy with the Russians and the french judge?), Kurt Browning (4-time World champion and at 43, he's still amazing), Joannie Rochette (if you don't know who she is after everything that happened, you live under a rock) and Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue (Olympic and World champions) just to name those. They were all amazing and Moir & Virtue did their Olympic winning dance during the second part of the show (they did their hockey player/ballerina choreography during the first part) and Joannie's performance was amazing (she got standing ovations every time she was on the ice). It was really a great show.

Anyway, back to SL. As some of you know, I joined an RP called Perdition about a month ago. I roleplayed two days there before I had too many stuff to do for school to go back and risk crashing again (I went two other days but crashed after a few minutes). Even tho the build of Perdition is really great, the RP is not that great ("People are just standing around" as my friend said). Oh, and they banned resize scripts from the sim, BUT blings and particles are allowed. Hum, those two things can probably create more lag than a resize script, which can't really be seen as far as I'm concern. Anyway, I tried to find another RP place with a bit more fantasy and where my puff sleeve blouse (yes, the one from Ohmai) wouldn't clash. New Wonderland seemed interesting except for one major problem: anyone can just jump in the RP area of the sim and start roleplaying. No CS to fill to apply, which means any stupid noob who never roleplayed can just barge in and start doing stupid noob things, which can be extremely annoying for more experienced RPers. I think that could even annoy Monkey (guy friend who isn't annoyed by anything... some (me and my friend) even wonder if he cares about anything at all). Conclusion: so far, I'll stick to Perdition.

Also, one last thing before I show you my LOTD. My plan this summer is to learn how to draw. No, not to create SL clothes or anything related to SL. I just want to learn how to draw. Not that I was ever planning to dress up like Dorothy, but while I was testing dresses to see which one worked with my Ohmai Puff Blouse, I landed on an Elate one that just reminded me a bit of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. So I switched the white flats I was wearing for my red Nardcotix shoes and voilà!, my own version of Dorothy's outfit was ready.

The skin I'm wearing is the Ember skin from Pink Fuel, the Spring Fling makeup that was available during the first Project Themeory (this week's theme is Hollywood Hill btw), but it won't be released until May and some modifications were done to the nose (more defined, but not as defined as on the L. Fauna skins... thank God) and the lips (some fat lip ladies complained it wasn't fitting them well with the original lips... maybe if they didn't have Angelina Jolie's lips, it would work just fine on their shape... or they could just learn to tweak their shape). As far as I'm concern, she could have kept the same face as Skye with the belly button of Ember.

So, the first Project Themeory (or lovingly called Project Thingy by yours truly) was today and GOD is the stuff great. If good designers like that participate in that project every week, I'm gonna go bankrupt. The first makeup released to the public of the Pink Fuel Ember skin, was the best part of it... mailny because I've been waiting for that skin for a while. The Atomic top was just overly sweet and would have bought every color if I wasn't reasonable (thank god my parents don't read this or they would snicker...). The Shag hairstyle was overly lovely, the Kyoot panties were worth buying even if I don't usually wear panties in SL (thx to glitch pants), the jumpers from Luck Inc and Vive9 are adorable (but will wear the Luck Inc one with my puff sleeve top from Ohmai) and the tanks from Tyranny were cute! Maybe it was the Spring Fling theme that inspired designers to do cute stuff and me to buy loads of things, but who cares, I'm rolling in cuteness! Oh, and did I mention it only took me 2 minutes to adjust my Maitreya Gold shoes to the new Ember skin (Honey tone)? I need a field where I can twirl around nekkid because I'm ecstatic!

Bargains... SL's New Trend

It all started with 50L Friday. Every Friday of every week, a list of stores put out an item for only 50L$. Then, many more appeared: Weekend Fever, 69L Hump Day, that Sunday thing I can't remember the name of, Monday Blues (or something like that... maybe it's I hate Mondays...). I think Tuesday is the Gorean 50L and Thursday as another bargain event. There's now Spruce Up Your Space, which is centered on furnitures made around a certain theme and there's a price limit (I think it's 200L$). Now there's the Dressing Room, a bunch of items from a group of creators that only cost 40L to 70L and those items are changed every two weeks and each time, there's a guest creator. Tomorrow, Project Themeory starts, with a bunch of store's (such as Pink Fuel, Atomic, Kyoot and many more for this week) that will put out an item at 75L that will go with a theme. Every week, the theme and the designers are going to change, but according to this week's creators, I think it will be just as interesting as the 50L Friday.

So, what is this sudden trend to start bargain events? Generosity? Publicity stunt? Who knows... but one thing is sure, I won't complain. Now all I'm waiting for is for Truth to have a hair sale, then I'll be in heaven (I have a really long list of hair I want from there).

The importance of customer service

In RL, good customer service in a store can lead said store a long way. Bad customer service can kill it. In Quebec for exemple, especially in Montreal, a French Canadian will boycott a store and tell his/her friends to do so if he/she was not able to be served in french (major issue here).

Now, in SL, we usually enter a store and there's no one there to welcome us and if there is, we usually find it weird. I, for instance, never know if I should say "thank you" when I'm welcomed in a store and can wonder that for the whole time I'm in that store. Unless it's a bot, in which case I just ignore it. On the other hand, we usually wished there was someone when we actually need help, like when a pose stand at a pose store isn't working, which means I can't try out poses which means I won't buy. It's in those situations we are glad store owners care about their customers. In fact, when I went to the opening of the Pookie Promenade, there was a pose store and my huge fun when i discover a new pose store is to try out poses. So I jump on the first pose stand and I get a message that it's not working. Well, crap. Good thing is, the store owner was next door, in her clothing store, so she also saw the message. She came, arranged the pose stand and gave me the fatpack of the pose stand, to excuse herself for what had happened. Not that I was mad or even expecting that. Hell, the sim had just opened, these kinds of things can happen. But the simple fact she gave me the fatpack of a set of pose without me saying anything, I simply was impressed... and feeling bad. I'm not used to get gifts in SL, I'm the one who gives the gifts to my friends at Xmas. So, to feel better, I bought another pose set and two skirts from her clothing store. But the simple fact that she was nice to me (not just the free pose set, she also said she was sorry and thanked me when I bought the other pose set) has made me a loyal customer and I will definitely go back to buy more stuff. Oh, and the store's name is *MayoNaise*, so go... NOW!

Sh*t! I got my first review copies... well sorta

As you all know, yesterday was Easter, hence why I didn't blog anything because I had to do some hunts in SL, then family came over my house and I had my two cousins with me who were impressed with my av jumping in the SL water (the youngest developed an obsession afterwards and wanted me to put my av in the water 24/7). Also, a new shopping sim opened yesterday: Pookie Promenade. It's new, so there are still some empty spaces, but the store's that are there and the architecture make the place worth visiting. Oh, and the dollarbies outside stores are also a good reason to go and take a look.

Anyway, all this to say that yesterday, I went to bed late (midnight... that's late for me) and as I was checking my plurks in bed on my Touch, the designer of Sh*t Happens, Ana Boogiewoogie, was asking bloggers to write down there names to have a blogger's pack of her newest release. I may have been dead tired, but I wasn't going to pass up the occasion of getting my first "review" copy ever. Gotta love creators that do that, instead of just sending stuff to well known bloggers. Meh, would have bought one of the skirts anyway, but hey, I'm just overly happy right now that I got that wonderful skirt that comes just in time for spring.

So, the skirt comes in 17 colors and one floral pattern and each cost 125L$ and the fatpack is 875L$ for a limited time as there is a 50% off sale going on on every fatpack (single items are NOT included). The other release are the Zebra Printed Stirrup Leggings, which are very funky (joy, now I have Funkytown stuck in my head) and 65L$ for a limited time as they are considred fatpacks since they don't come as single items.

Finally, you'll see in the LOTD's picture a desk, well, part of it. That desk is only ONE prim and includes 5 poses. It comes in two colors and costs, if I recall properly, 122L$, but you can get one color through the Lucky Board at the mainstore (that's how I got mine).

PIGGY!!!

First, don't mind the title, it's random. So, as I mentioned yesterday, I'm back to RPing and it's in an urban sim, but thanks to the social class system of Perdition, not every girl has to dress like a crack-addict slut with a backstory of a traumatizing childhood with an abusing father like in CD (Crack Den) unless she wants to clash and be royally ignored (I swear, if you don't look easy over there, guys don't even give you a second look ¬_¬). Anyway, in CoP, you can dress nicely if you are part of the upper-class (but will still clash if you are RPing a role part of the lower-class (aka pooooor)). So, today I decided to do a look that is classy but still urban, sorta.

I used the Cupcake dress as a base, then added the fri.day jacket which is a must in any inventory (but you can wait for the next fri.day sale ;-)). Afterward, I wore the Annexx boots I bought at the shoe fair and hadn't worn since and then added the racerback from Ohmai! to give the dress a more casual look. By the way, all the white basics at Ohmai are free or 1L$, so run over there and get them. I can't believe I just described my outfit... kinda. Anyhoo, here it is:

You probably recognized the Fairy Godmother's magic words in the title. How many of us wished they had a Fairy Godmother to make their dreams come true? I surely do. Just today, I was wishing I had one so that she would remove my shyness. Not that I hate being shy, it's just that it can be unhealthy sometimes. It's not normal to stress for hours wondering if you should say a simple "hi" to someone you haven't talked to since December with a conversation that was as followed: "Happy birthday!" "Thank you" "You're welcome". I'm not saying if that person had never been a close friend or someone I was talking to often. I do have people on my friend list that I never was really close of and I don't care. But I always feel a bit sad when someone I was talking with about school stuff and other random things slowly becomes a distant friend. I suppose that's what happens when you stop RPing at the same places (or simply stop RPing in my case). Well, we did speak today or rather he asked me if I knew any good freebie blogs. Hey, was just glad I didn't have to say "hi" followed by "how have you been lately? long time we haven't spoken"... I'm always afraid to bug him. He probably doesn't even care...

Never been to Milan but did some research about that city since my most recent RP character is from said city. Ok, since I have no idea if Australians said "hi" any special way, I just decided to go with an australian animal. So, after London, it's time for Melbourne, the cultural centre of Australia according to Wiki. Good Day from London!

Tea anyone? Just kidding. After Tokyo, it is now time for London, Britain's capital. London is one of the fashion capitals of the world where you can find funky and punk style clothings. Think Vivienne Westwood. Of course, many other british designers do less flashy stuff but still very original. Think the late Alexander McQueen (first brit designer I discovered when I started to get interested in fashion), Stella McCartney (daughter of Sir Paul McCartney) and Christopher Bailey (Burberry's designer) just to name these three. London is also known for it's culture, as you can visit many museums and see plays and musicals in the West End (that's wear I saw The Phantom of the Opera and My Fair Lady).

Enough talking about the real London, let's now talk about the CF London sim. If you've ever been to London, you probably will recognize Trafalgar Square as being the inspiration for that sim, with a building resembling the National Portrait Gallery housing the Caliber Designs store. You can also see the London Eye, which isn't near Trafalgar Square, but who cares since it's a landmark and really looks like the real one. The only thing missing are the pidgeons, otherwise, I'm very impressed with that sim.

Konichiwa from Tokyo!

I'm now off to the land of cherry trees, samurais, geishas and... video games! Tokyo is the capital of Japan and the biggest city of the country. Modern buidlings that look like they are straight out of a video game share the space with traditional shinto shrines and other traditional building reminding us of the past of that wonderful city that I've unfortunately never visited.

The CF Tokyo sim, is very original even though from the New York sim, it looked like a european city. But once there, you will feel the japanese vibe. If you need to take a break from all the shopping you've done, I suggest you stop in the garden found at the middle of the sim, full of cherry trees and very peaceful. Some may complain it doesn't look like downtown Tokyo, but traditional Tokyo is just as actual and charming than modern Tokyo.

I just hope it will be out before the end of the fair, due to L$ I was planning to buy to buy a Skye and then spend the rest on the fair, but since the new skin is going to be released soon, I'll wait.

New York... The american fashion capital. Home of Vogue, Anna Wintour, Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, SoHo and all those trendy neighborhoods. You would expect the sim representing that fabulous city that I happen to visit once a year to be fabulous and inspiring like it’s RL counterpart. Unfortunately, it just looks like every other New York/ big city sims that exist in SL. In fact, if it wasn’t for the mini Statue of Liberty and the too-white Public Library, which I wouldn’t have recognize if it hadn’t been for the books inside the building and the lions on each side of the stairs, I wouldn’t have recognize NYC.

Anyway, on with the stores. Those were also a bit of a deception after Paris and New Delhi, where nearly everything impressed me, even if it wasn’t necessarily my style. I don’t know if it’s how the items were placed in most stores or just that I was a bit tired after looking around two sims in a row taking notes and was starting to get a headache for staring to much at my computer screen, but nothing seemed to hit me as a must buy, except when I arrived at LVS and Co., DeLa and Phoenix Rising, where I felt a sense of relief as I knew I would find something I liked in those stores. I’m not saying you should skip every store. If you are into more urban clothes and revealing clothes, you’ll be a happy camper in CF New York.

So, before I start talking about the New Delhi sim and the stores you can find there, I have a small announcement to make. I created a french version of this blog. Bonjour from Paris!

As you probably know by now, the clothing fair has started. According to the press release, there are 8 sims, each representing one of the fashion capitals of the world. I started in Paris, hence the title of this blog post.

In the Paris sim, you will find a small Eiffel tower that looks like a mini-me of the real one. As for the architecture of the sim, it looks nothing like Paris but reminds me more of the Renaissance palaces you could find in France. But can't say it reminds me of the Louvres or Versaille. It's still very lovely and after going around all the stores and fully taking in the atmosphere the architecture gives to the sim, you want to run straight back to House of RFyre to buy the Marie-Antoinette like dress. Would have bought it myself, but I don't need it and I have to be reasonable. God I hate being reasonable.

As for the stores, I was quite impressed with all the different creations I saw. The one thing I don't understand is why did I find a shoe store and an jewelry store? As much as I love shoes, I come to a clothing fair with the idea to shop for clothes. I would have understand since both compliment clothes if it hadn't been for the fact that there is a shoe fair, a jewelry fair and an accessory fair. I wonder how those shoes and jewelry designers would react if the organizers of those fairs decided to let clothing designers have a booth. Oh well...

Once upon a dream...

Ok, one day late, but have to make my Oscar criticism. You can skip to the next paragraph if you want. First, Sandra Bullock's makeup. Her lipstick clashed so horribly with her dress... it' wasn't pure red, it had a tint of pink! Come on! When you are nominated for Best Actress and everyone is saying you are going to win (dunno why... I'll never understand the Academy), hire the best makeup artist in LA. If you did, then... ruin her career, she sucks. Next, SJP (accompanied by her dwarf of a husband... what's with his hair anyway?). I usually like what the one and only Sarah Jessica Parker wears, but that Chanel light yellow dress clashed with her tan... which she usually doesn't have (it was confirmed a minute later I had seen her on TV on the red carpet when a commercial with her as her pale normal self was shown...). On a brighter note, I adored what Meryl Streep (there for her 16th nomination), Penelopé Cruz and Helen Mirren were wearing and Clooney looked oh so yummy as always. Oh, and another thing... why is it always the boring song that wins "Best Song" and what happened with presented each song nominated with a little number like during the previous years? Cut all those actors saying how great the nominees for Best Actor/Actress are and gimme a real Hollywood-worthy show! That's all I had to say...

Now the skin shopping part. Yes, I want to change skin... again. I found one at Pink Fuel that is oh so me even if the fatpack is... expensive. But hey, it's not everyday you find a skin that suits you like a glove. Thing is, the designer, Mochi Milena, is making another skin which is still in beta mode and might just be released in April. So, if I buy the fatpack of the Skye skin and then try on the demo of the "beta" skin when it's released and then realize that I prefer the "beta" skin, I'll feel bad to not have waited. On the other hand, if I do wait and turns out the Skye skin is my fav, I will have waited all that time for nothing. I would sometime prefer to not know about upcoming skins a month in advance. Hard enough to choose between two things that you can buy straight ahead and try on in certain cases, makes it even harder to choose between something you can actually try on and something you know is coming and seems great but can't try on. All this to say, dear skin creators and other creators of tempting stuff, if you plan to give us a preview of something that is upcoming, wether it is by showing us pictures or giving review copies to bloggers, would it be possible to have a release date or at least something like "end of said month" or just put out a demo version (with the whole usual demo stuff written all over it) of that new skin you decided to show us before it's release so that we can see if we want to wait for said new skin to spend a lot on it or if we want to spend a lot now for the old skin? I want to buy a skin and not regret it afterwards.

On to my LOTD now. I decided to do the beautiful Aurora today. As you noticed, I'm still brunette instead of blond. Thing is, I don't get free stuff from designers so buying a blond hairstyle I'm not going to wear again is a big no no budget-wise. Anyway, I'm not trying to reproduce every inch of Aurora here, I'm "modernizing" her look. So, I went again for the peasant version of a princess as I found it more interesting and I actually had an image of it in my head. Anyway, here it is:

The True North

The Olympic Games are already over. It didn't start as perfectly as us Canadian wanted: first, the death of an athlete and second, one part of the interior torch didn't raise which made us the joke of the evening. We didn't get as many medal as we expected the first week, but we got that golden medal on canadian soil we have been waiting for since the summer games in Montreal (my hometown) thanks to Alexandre Bilodeau, a French Canadian. Boy were we excited, especially since we were expecting it a bit earlier with Jennifer Heil, who got silver, the American getting gold. But thanks to Bilodeau, our golden wish was granted and it didn't stop there. Canada managed to beat the world record in terms of Gold medal won during Winter Olympics by winning 14 gold medals, the previous record being 13 gold medals established by the Soviet Union and then equalled by Norway in 2002.

Said record would mean nothing to Canadians if it wasn't for the 14th medal: Men's Hockey, where Team Canada won 3-2 in overtime against Team USA. As the Coca-Cola commercial says: "Now they know who's game they're playing". Oh, and the one and only Crosby scored the winning goal. I might become a Penguins fan at this rate as they are better (way better) than the Montreal Canadien, many Canadians play for that team and is co-owned by a French Canadian.

Anyway, even tho many say it is a North American victory since the American won the medal count, I'm gonna say good for them, but it's Canada who was golden at those games and not anywhere, but at home.

I have to admit that during those games, my favourite moment wasn't a golden moment. It was the performance of Joannie Rochette (if you follow me on Plurk, you probably know that already :P). Such courage and determination after loosing someone dear is amazing and inspiring. Not only did she performed superbly, but she got a bronze medal that she entirely deserved, the gold being won by the exquisite Yu-Na Kim of Korea (trained in Toronto by a former Canadian champion).

Did you watch the Olympic games yesterday? I did... well part of it, as I had to study. Any of you saw the Canadian ladies show the Americans who was (and will always be) the best? I saw the last minute of the match, and boy was I happy. 2-0 for Canada which gave us our 8th gold medal for those olympics, a Canadian record AND which now means we have the same number of gold medal as the Americans. BOOYA! (Noooo, not anti-american *rolls her eyes*)

Anyway, after hockey, it was time for figure skating with the very courageous Joannie Rochette. It was the free skating program and she did beautifully and you could feel the whole crowd being with her just like during her short program, especially after the tragic event she had to deal with. She won bronze, but for me and for probably everyone in Canada, she is a true champion.

So, today, I'm wearing Canada's colors to show how proud I am of my country right now.

Today is the hockey match Canada vs USA. Huge rivalry between the two teams. Canada won the gold medal in Salt Lake City, while in Torino, none won any medal on the men side (Canadian women hockey team won gold :P). We created hockey and tonight, we are gonna beat the sorry bum of Team USA. We have Crosby and Brodeur! Go Canada, go!

Valentine's Day... A day most singles, including me, wish didn't exist. But, fellow single ones, Vday is about love in general, not just couple's cheesy luuuurve. Team Canada!!!

Don't worry, I'm not done with my idea of modernizing Disney princesses looks. Just looking for some clothes to actually do that (window shopping + looking through my messy inventory) and get the L$ to buy the needed clothes (I sometime need to buy everything for the outfit I want to do... and fatpacks are killers for the wallet XD)

Anyway, today's LOTD is related to the Olympic games, which are held in Vancouver, Canada. Yup, beautiful Canada, my country. Yesterday, as Antonia Marat (artilleri's designer) said on Plurk, the whole world was Canadian. The intro with the snowboarder and the maple leaf was fab, the national anthem sang by Nikki Yanofski (a Montrealer) was great and the whole show was great. The world saw us, a proud population, proud of who we are, of our history and of our culture. We are not the 51st state of the US, we are Canada. Now is the time to win the gold home. If you are Canadian, cheer for our athletes. We have chances to win the gold medal in many disciplines: figure skating, skiing, speed skating (bite dust Ono), hockey (we have Sidney Crosby!) and many more.

So, that's why today's LOTD is white and mainly red. It's for Canada, not Vday.

The title rings a bell? Well, it is the name of one of the song from the movie "The Little Mermaid". Now, why choose that as a title. Well, if you read the post I did two days ago, I mentionned I had an idea for upcoming LOTD. Well, my idea is to modernize classic Disney princess looks. You may think it's a stupid idea, that I won't be able to do it and so on, but I don't care. I was looking for something to inspire me original LOTDs, thought about what I liked and then it hit me: Disney! I'm a huge Disney fan! I don't think anyone ever tried that before as far as I'm concern... then again, the SL blogosphere is enormous, so maybe someone did it already... but whatever.

So, I got a notecard this morning about a month long event that is going on right now at the Hodgepodge Mall that will include "exclusive beach themed items, exclusive valentine's items, freebies/dollarbies, and sales" (that's what was written on the notecard). So, what's not to like about his event, freebie hunters are going to find something along with bargain hunters. Now, many stores are taking part in that event, but I'll just name a few (mainly my favs):

I am officially back from my hiatus. Many things happen during that time, some pleasant stuff, some unpleasant things. I moved and now live on a land that noobs can't access (have to be part of the group to gain access), my neighbors are my best friend and another one of my friends, so couldn't really ask for better neighbors, right? I bought a house and some furnitures to celebrate the fact that I know can have a beautiful view of the SL sea, which was my... hum... real estate dream XD.

Also, I started roleplaying again. Was getting bored in SL so decided to return to what was making me login everyday a year ago. But that doesn't mean I'll stop doing my LOTD posts. In fact, I have some great ideas for my upcoming LOTDs. Hope you'll like them :).

Short hiatus

Not that anybody cares, but I won't blog for a lil while, at least fashion wise, while I clean my inventory. I realized I still have stuff I owned as a noob and that I was keeping "just in case". I'll also be looking for new places to take my LOTD pics. Also starting a new semester in university, so need to adjust to all my new classes and the papers I'll eventually have to write (oh joy).

Meeting You in Belleville

Remember the movie "The Triplets of Belleville" (also known as "Belleville Rendez-Vous" in the UK and "Les triplettes de Belleville" in french)? No? Well, it's that movie along with Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" that inspired today's LOTD. Ok, the theme of the 3rd Designer United event also inspired me.

First, the theme of the Designer United 3 (DU3) is Vaudeville. Vaudeville is a theatrical genre that was very popular in the early 1880s until the early 1930s. The Triplets from the movie "The Triplets of Belleville" were vaudeville stars in their youth as we can see at the beginning of the movie. Also, the music for that film by the music of the 1920s. As for "The Princess and the Frog", it is set in the French Quarter of New Orleans in what seems the 20s-30s, at least according to the fashion. So, basically, I decided to go for a 1920-1930 look for today's LOTD.

My first post of the year! YAY! Haven't posted since the 26th 'cause I was busy and returning to my good ol' Sims 3. Now I want the expansion pack... Anyway, what are your resolutions for the new year, if you have taken any that is? My resolution is to be a bit less shy, at least in SL (will never happen in RL if you ask me...). If a party I hear about interests me, I should go even if I know no one and even if I will most probably end up in a corner and then crash. I will also try to shop less, but that I doubt it'll happen XD. I just hope I won't change skin as much as I did in 2009. Damn pretty skins cost a fortune... RL wise, I'll try to procrastinate less when I have a paper to do (strangely, I don't really procrastinate when I have to do something related to SL... go figure).

Yes, I know, Christmas was yesterday. Anyone watched the Christmas Day Parade on ABC? I did and loved every minute of it (except the part with the Jonas Brothers and the other singers I had never heard of). Loved the last song Céline Dion sang and also loved the fact she wished Merry Christmas in english and in french after the first song.

I also gave two of my three gifts to my friends. Both of them seemed very happy. Now just have to wait for the Monkey to log on.

Ever watched the show "Mad Men"? I did and it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. Now, at ::Tasty::, where I work, they transformed half of the second floor into Sterling Cooper, the advertising agency in the show, where Betty Draper, Joan Holloway, Peggy Olson (my fav character), Pete Campbell and Don Draper are waiting.

So, for today's LOTD, I decided to wear the Jane dress, named after the character of the same name in Mad Men. And since Don Draper seems to have a thing for brunettes (all his mistresses were brunettes so far), decided to take a picture with Mr Draper. Sorry Betty... :P

So, yesterday, I finished my paper and right now I should be studying for my last exam before Xmas (YAY!!!). But since lately I feel like hiding away from happy couples, I decided I would do something I like: write down what I want in SL for Xmas. Not like I'm expecting anything (just bought one gift this year anyway), but might just end up buying those things for myself. So here goes:

I think I have been a good girl this year, except when I was venting on here and hurting people without knowing it. Of that I'm sorry. But otherwise, I don't think I should be on your "naughty" list. Anyway, this year I'm not asking for much. I would like the fatpack of the new Curio skin (yeah, I know, it's the third time I'm mentioning it on this blog) because it really fits me and lately I need some change. I would also like the new FilterCam because I take a lot of pictures lately (thanks to the LOTD thing) and it does look like a fun thing to own. I would also like a giftcard from SySy's (speaking of which, you have until today to get them at 50% off) because her creations are so glamourous and I need a new gown for Xmas, even if I'm spending it alone in SL (but with my family in RL, don't worry :) ). I would also love to find some land to rent for cheap to just decorate it and invite friend's over. Speaking of friend's, it would be great if I could make new friends (while still keeping the old ones, especially Jody) to just fool around, explore sims and talk about something else than roleplay. There's something else I would love to have, but since I know you can't give it to me, I won't write it down... So, yeah, that's about it. Cute Christmas

Nothing much to say today... Found some stuff at 50L$ Friday (including the dress of today's LOTD)... Decided I would buy myself the Curio Elf skin fatpack (same price as 3 makeups) as a Christmas present to myself on Christmas day, so have to wait a week. Only one exam left for me to do and my first semester as a university student will be over. Also have one more paper to do on communism which shouldn't be too hard to do. After that, I will be FREE!!! One more semester to do and then I'll be off to Disney World for my bday! Mmmm, going a bit too far in the future...

In a week, it's going to be Christmas with the Christmas day parade at WDW! Guess who's going to sing? Hum, yah, the Jonas Brothers, but there's someone else who's going to sing. Who is it? Meh, not gonna tell you guys right now, but I'll be nice and give you a clue: she's French Canadian. Oh, and I don't think Miley "I think I'm so great" Cyrus is gonna be at this year's parade. As some of you may already know, Le.Look is giving out an entire female av and an entire male av as a Christmas gift, releasing one piece of these av everyday. On the first day, you could get a shape and a skin (LeLutka for the ladies, Belleza for the gents). Yesterday, you could get the hairstyles (Maitreya for the ladies, Find Ash for the gents).

Now, since I concluded that my theory of me scaring guys away is true and that this would technically mean that I would never be able to use the couple poses I have, I decided to solve my problem by transforming my alt Juliet into a guy (thx to the Le.Look gifts :P). Yeah, I could have created an entirely new alt with a guy's name, but was to lazy. Maybe I will, eventually, but so far, Juliet is playing the part. So now, I can finally use the couple poses I have (got them all for free, not stupid enough to buy couple poses when I'm single).

As for today's look, it's not really Xmas related. Just wanted to wear a Pididdle dress and show off my legs :P. Anyway, I suppose that look would work if you celebrate Xmas in the south.

OMG! I'm not wearing my usual Atomic skin for this LOTD! Why? Well, I saw on juicybomb.com that Curio was giving out in their in-world group a holiday makeup of the elf skin. It doesn't cost a dime to join the group so run like the wind and join it. As for me, I fell in love with that skin. I never was a huge fan of Curio, but the way that skin looked on me was just... WOW. So I tried on the demos of the elf skin and now I want Elf Snug, Soot and Pure (in that order)... with my budget, I'll buy one per month unless some kind and charitable avatar gives them to me as a Christmas gift. AH! as if that would ever happen, but doesn't kill me to dream, right?

Yes, I'm wearing a gown again. I love gowns and dresses and when I got that one from SySy Chapman's SoM, I felt like jumping around and decided it would be today's LOTD. No, it's not available anymore in the SoM. Why? To avoid freebie hunters to subscribe, get the dress, and then unsubscribe.

So, yesterday there wasn't any post because I had to study hard for an exam. Nothing major happened yesterday anyway. I applied for a job at Malt, but I'm pretty sure with my luck that I won't get it, even if it's not far from being my dream job. Not that I don't enjoy being PR for Tasty and Inara's and would still continue working for them. Just that I want to try something different and highly interesting.

I was feeling like wearing a gown today. So, I went for a Casa del Shai dress that I got at a previous 50L$ Friday. I was feeling very glamourous and slightly Upper East Side-ish in that dress. That dress (or any other dress similar to that one) is perfect for a glamourous Christmas party in SL if you want to be the belle of the ball.

Rumors and exams

Sooo... Haven't posted since Monday, but I have a good excuse! Tuesday I had an exam between 4pm and 7pm and yesterday, well, I hit the numerous SL sales going on right now (Fri.day, Surf Couture, artilleri) and crashed numerous times.

Anyway, yesterday, my friend Jadz told me a rumor was going around Hogwarts United and said rumor was about me. Thing is, I haven't set a foot at HU in like a decade. I'm surprised some even remember who I am over there. I'm sure the noobs hearing that rumor are like "who the hell is that Cath?" What's the rumor? That I have an alt named Perenelle RPing at HU. Now I have a lil message for the twats who started the rumor. First, I am not that Perenelle, even if she supposedly "flies like me" (seriously, I don't recall flying any special way). Second, as I stated earlier, I haven't set a foot in HU in like a decade, so why do you automatically think it's me? I don't even RP anymore as I lost interest. Third, what would be my motive to create an alt? I was never banned from HU as far as I'm concern. So, seriously, before spreading rumors, check your facts or, even better, get a life! Finally, now that I'm looking at Miss Perenelle Carver's profile, how could anyone think I'm her! Seriously... Anyway, if I recall correctly, the only Perenelle I knew back at WoH was the alt of Casandra Dench. I would like to thank whoever started the rumor as it gave me something to write about. As one of my friends told me "the idiots always provide so much material" and she's right. Now go and get a life and if you ever do see me at HU, it will be as me, Cath McMahon and not under my alt's name, Juliet05 Inglewood :P Oh, and if Perenelle is not an alt, then seriously, it's horrible to spread rumors she's an alt and make her live under the shadow of someone else. Idiots.

Lazy Monkey Day

Ugh... have to prepare for an exam, so this post is going to be a quick one.

Today is the Monkey's birthday!!! He's now ooooold (1 year older than me XD). Took me like ten minutes before wishing him happy birthday inworld. I was like "Will he think I'm weird if I just wish him a happy birthday out of nowhere?". I ended up wishing him a happy bday, he said thx I said you're welcome (seriously, what are you suppose to say after someone thanked you for wishing them happy bday... "you're welcome" sounds too much like "it was a task I had to do").

Anyway, tomorrow I have my first university final (GAH!) and I just wish i could have a lazy day right now... Meh, wish me luck (course where I failed an exam already... hence why I fear for my life).

Le Tricolore and Happy Days!

For the ones who are wandering what's with the first part this post's title being in french, "Le Tricolore" is one of the many french nickname of the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal's hockey team. In english, their nickname is the Habs, a short for "habitants" (yes, another french word).

Now you may wonder what does hockey has to do with fashion. The answer: nothing as far as I'm concern. I don't even like hockey. Then why the hockey reference. Well, yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens AND they won their match after loosing their 4 previous matches. Really, they were meant to win on their 100th birthday. Now, I may not like hockey, but I hold, like any other French Canadian and Montrealer, a certain proudness when it comes to that team's past. It is one of the first 6 teams part of the NHL and the only who was founded before the creation of the NHL. It holds the record for the number of Stanley cup won. Some of the greatest player in the history of hockey have played for the Canadiens, such as Maurice "The Rocket" Richard, Jean Béliveau, Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden and many more. One of it's former player, Henri "The Pocket Rocket" Richard, is the player who won the most Stanley cup. A long time ago, they were the team that every other team feared, especially during the season when they only lost 8 matches in 80 (you wouldn't see that today ¬_¬). So that's why today, to commemorate that great team, my LOTD has the three colors: blue, white and red. The white is mainly on the shoes.

Now, yesterday, I had a major groupie moment. My favorite SL blogger of all time, Alicia Chenaux for the ones who are reading this blog for the first time, saw me at the shoe fair. Well, passed by me but she noticed me! At least according to what she told me on plurk. Anyway... was my major groupie moment and made me overly happy for the rest of the evening, even after I had spent 2000L$ in one day.

Today, also another happy moment. I learned that one of the stores I work for as a PR, Tasty, is going to make Mad Men inspired outfits for Christmas. Since I'm a HUGE fan of the show, the grin on my face was also HUGE when I learned the news. So crap my principle of not blogging stuff from the stores I work for. Both are making great Xmas stuff and I'm gonna blog them! Don't care if some say that I'm biased because I work for them as it is not true! I love Xmas stuff and no one is going to stop me from blogging great Xmas stuff!

Oh, and I also learned this morning that Flickr, if you have a free account, only show the 200 most recent pics on your photostream. As for the rest, it isn't gone and will still appear on blogs if you posted them, but you can't see them anymore on the stream. Hence why I'm now debating with myself wether I should spend on a premium or just shrug and say "at long as they still show up on my blog".

So, today was 50L$ Friday, so, since I'm not the kind to shop in formal attire, today's LOTD is not a Xmas... unless you decide to stay very casual that day. It could always be a gift wrapping attire or anything related to preparations...

Anyway, today's 50L$ Friday was more or less exciting. BUT, if you have a partner in SL run to Fishy Strawberry NOW! They are giving that very shmexy red lingerie set at only 50L$. I would have bought it, but since I'm very single, I didn't. What would be the point? No one to show it too...

I'm also on a quest to find the perfect arm tattoo. Even if I'm not at all a tattoo person in RL, one of my fav new singer has that really nice arm tattoo and I dunno, but I want my av to have a similar one. Click here for pictures of said tattoo.

Winter Magic

So, for the rest of December, I'm gonna show you some cute outfits that you can wear at Xmas or New Years wether you are spending it alone, with your lover, with friends or with family.

So, today I paired a dress I bought at Nyte'N'Day with green leggings from LeLutka. The dress is a bit too short for my own standards (the bottom of my butt was showing!) hence why I paired it with the leggings, which I got as a group gift but I know they are available in store since I went to buy myself the black version. I love black stuff in SL, go figure why. As for the shoes, they are from Nardcotix and I suggest you run and go buy them. I did after seeing them on Juicy's blog.

Now the hair I'm wearing is from Magika and only cost 199L$ for a pack of 5 colors and you can find a variety of hairstyles. See, there are stores offering nice hairs that cost less than Truth (still don't understand why he absolutely needed to increase his prices... *shrugs* whatever)

A Tiny Bird Told Me...

So after I posted my post about the new price of Truth hairstyles, I noticed that I wasn't the only one who wrinkled their nose when they learned that. Since I have been tight on my SL budget, haven't really bought any hair from Truth. Went once to try and pick up some demos, but i crashed before I could and since then never really gone back. Now, I'm not boycotting Truth. I just like to get more for my money. Hence why I reminded myself that there are many hair store out there and some who sell their hairstyles for less than 250L$. So, for this post and the next one, I'm gonna talk about about the two stores that I know and love AND sell their hair at a price under 250L$. Truth is still very affordable... when you buy one or two hairstyles. My motto is "More for my money". Hence why I ADORE 50L$ Friday, but I digress.

So, store #1 is Tiny Bird. The first brown hairstyle I bought was from the designer of Tiny Bird, Autumn Hykova, back when she her store was called Pixel Dust. She had two hairstyles based on Hermione's hairstyles from the 4th movie and since I was RPing at a Harry Potter roleplay sim, I thought it would be appropriate... and also because Hermione is my fav character.

Anyway, I think that what makes Tiny Bird different from the other hair stores is that you mainly find short/shoulder lenght hairstyles. The longest hairstyle I've seen there goes just below the shoulders. The hairs are mainly made out of sculpties, very few flexi prims (except for the hairtyle that goes a bit below the shoulder), but since the hair styles are short, it doesn't really matter and the hairs are still fantastic.

The regular price for a pack of 3 colors is 175 L$. Even better, Tiny Bird takes part reguralarly to 50L$ Friday. So if you're not the type to stick to one hair color, it's a pretty good deal, but she usual propose 3 colors.

I just bought "I and Love and You" and I'm totally addicted. It's short, cute and wavy. It comes with a holly that attaches to the nose. If you have prim eyelashes attached there, attach the holly somewhere else and have "fun" adjusting it (attaching it to Nose 2 is not better).

So, for today's LOTD, I decided to go with an artilleri outfit that I think I got at the Gnubie Store, but not sure. Anyway, if you like retro and rockabilly stuff, it is the place to go.

Oh, and also, before I show you guys the pic, just wanted to let you know, for the ones who might have been wondering, that my best friend who I thought didn't want to be my friend anymore is still my friend. Let's all celebrate buy shopping!

Yup, the month of November is almost over, it's my last "week" (2 days and a half) of class before the exams and Christmas is in less than a month. Can't wait for Xmas... I still need to install that tree I bought at 50L$ Friday, but I'm waiting to see if my landlady will accept switching my house for a less primy skybox (skybox= 60 prims, house=more than 70 prims). I hope so... I just bought my dream skybox Friday (as Alicia Chenaux told me on plurk: "When it comes to 50L$ skyboxes, always buy" and that's what I did). I already imagined how I would place my furnitures. After what happened Friday and yesterday, I really need some change. Not gonna leave SL just because of that though... I still have... 2 friends (I'm so not a friend collectioner XD).

Anyway, I'm feeling much better today, partly because a new month means payday for me, so you will definitely see me do some shopping therapy at the shoe expo this week... I even have a list XD. No prim feet shoes though... wore my SLink prim feet this morning (yes! I did remove my precioussss BAX boots from my lovely feet) for the lingerie I was gonna model and tried to adjust the skin color a bit. I positively suck. So for the winter, noooo prim feet.

Now, for today's LOTD, I chose a Sugarcube dress I got during 50L$ Friday (I depend alot on that bargain day :P). If you are looking for a cute dress, head there. Farewell to a friend...

For the ones who are only interested in the LOTD, you can skip straight to the picture. What follows is basically to empty myself. No, I won't vent about something.

Part of me thinks I should've written that bit in french, but the other part wishes that the person for who it is will maybe read it. I'm not asking her to understand or forgive me for whatever I did that she considers being wrong. I just need to let it out to move on.

I don't want to argue, I already did that with you a long time ago, hence why I'm not IMing you. I thought, after all we've been through together, nothing could break our friendship except something really big like if I went to PA and killed your dog (which I would never do, of course). Unfortunately, it seems I was wrong. Something I consider so small (you may disagree) compared to all our highs and lows. Something so small but that still manages to break our hardly-earned friendship. I thought our friendship was based on something strong... Guess I was wrong again.

I don't hate you, I won't call you a bitch as you are not a bitch. I would have kept your friendship if you had let me even if you told me your friendship is not much a prize to keep. I wouldn't have vent on things that bugged you if I had known you weren't in a mood to hear about them. Unfortunately, I can't rewind time.

I'm not perfect. No one is. I'm not the perfect friend either. I have a bad temper, I'm stubborn and the fact that I'm an only child probably makes me a bit self-centered. But I can listen and support. It's not much, but I suppose it's better than nothing. If you change your mind and still want to be my friend, I'll be glad as you have supported me and listened to me when I needed to, even if now I find I should have kept my mouth shut regarding certain subjects.

I was angry when I realized that you didn't want to be my friend anymore. Sadness has taken the place of anger and soon, indifference will come as sadness will drift away.

I wish you well in your upcoming projects and in the rest of your life. I suppose we will talk again as we will keep a professional relationship, but it will never be the same. So, good luck with your Second Life and your real life. Just remember that if you want to be my friend again, I'll be happy.

Hehe, happy Thanksgiving to all my american readers. Nothing special going on in Canada, but can't wait for tomorrows BIG 50L$ Friday (50 stores participating!).

So, even if it's not Thanksgiving here. I'm still gonna say what I'm thankful for. First, I'm thankful for being able to study and having supportive parents. Second, I'm thankful for the SL friends I have. I'm also thankful for the 50L$ thing which helps me get loads of great stuff for only 50L$ (I'm not far from being a shopaholic in SL... would be shopping all day long if I had the budget :P). I also want to thank my most regular reader (Monkey) for still reading my blog... at least according to Google Analytics. I want to thank Jody for listening to me when I need to vent, for telling others how great I supposedly am and for defending me when I need to be defended. I also would like to thank Inara for giving me a job when I had no experience at all as I gained experience thanks to said job. Finally, I'm thankful for the US Senate website for providing all the info I need for one of my papers (you don't find that kind of info on the Canadian Senate website).

Job, Shoes and Mill Colour

YAY! Got promoted at :Tasty:! I'm now the PR Manager... Let's all rejoy, drinks all around! Working your butt off, even as a simple model, always pays off. Also doing PR for someone else to show what you're capable of is very useful, but I digress. Anyway, just wanted to announce the good news to everyone who reads this blog.

Now, the shoes. As I already said, it's the shoe expo right now. Some shoes are set so that part of the L$s will go to the Marine's Toys for Tots. For the ones who haven't guessed, it's an american organization. Therefor I highly encourage Americans to donate something even if you don't find a pair of shoes you like (is that even possible?). As for avatars from other countries, I say it's up to you (unless you buy a pair of shoes for which part of the profit goes to Toys for Tots), but giving to an organization/society in your country that helps out kid would be a great idea. As for me (a pure French Canadian), I'll probably end up buying a pair of shoes for which part of the profit will go as a donation.

Now, something not related to SL. If you ever wanted to edit your pictures on your iPhone/iPod Touch, I highly recommend Mill Colour. It's free and it's great and I'm now a total addict... this said by the girl who has 3 photo editing tools on her iPod Touch (which don't take pictures... I just download my pics from flickr XD).

Today is the start of the Shoe Expo, which is a happy day for all the shoe lovers. Anywho, I have the feeling that a lot of ladies are going to have a very light wallet at the end of the fair. Ugh, and this friday is going to be the Black 50L$ Friday... 45 stores participating... Or maybe you're like Miley Cyrus and don't like Twilight (well, she dissed it, but that's probably because the stars of said movie are more popular than her little self).

Me? I'm Team Jacward, which means I can't make up my mind. Jacob is fun and shows more his feelings, while Edward is overall shmexy but way to troubled and overprotective for me. If he was more like Emmett, then I would be on Team Edward all the way.

Greedy Lindens

So, it seems that Linden Lab decided to add some fee regarding XstreetSL. Click here for more info.

It probably won't affect big creators. But it might affect the small ones selling cheap stuff or giving out freebies. Paying 99L$ to put out a freebie? Please, why should it cost someone to be generous. What is also the point lately to increase prices and add fees. Did everyone forgot that we were still in recession. It's going a bit better, but still.

Meh, I decided to just remove what I had for sale on Xstreet. Yah, I had shapes up for sale (including a freebie), but they're also available in-world. I just think it's unfair for the ones who can't afford a store because they are starting out and then LL decides that they'll have to pay to use XStreet. Way to go LL...

What's next? They are going to charge us in-world for every product we put out for sale or for free? No more hunts because creators will have to pay for the freebies they put out? What's going to be our gift for Xmas? More extra fees? Don't they know greed is a bad thing... or are they waiting for the three Christmas ghosts to come and visit them, preceded by the visit of the ghost of Philip Linden?

Lacking cold weather clothes

I realized a few days ago that I barely had any cold weather clothes in my inventory. I know, there is no actual weather change in SL as it is a virtual world. Thing is, everyone seems to have a autumn/winter wardrobe in SL. Blame it on the fact that I'm Canadian and probably don't want to bother myself with cold weather stuff in SL since cold is what I'm stuck with during 8-9 months. We don't even have white Christmases lately... just slushy Christmases.

Anyway, back to my wardrobe. So, since I live on a tight budget these days, I decided to transform spring/summer tops into autumn/winter tops using... thermals! Not sure of the result, so I invite you to comment (I'm such a comment junkie :P)

Hehe, no this post won't be about brits. Just had no idea what could be the title for a blog post about a sale at House of London. Yes, you read right. There's a sale going on at every store of House of London. Everything pink and her favorites are 50L$. The skins are 50% off. She's a very generous designer as it is not the first sale she has. God knows how much stuff I bought there at the first sale. Oh, and for the Twilight fans, she has Edward and Jacob t-shirts. I got both 'cause I can't decide on which team I am (RPatz is soooo yummy... but Edward bugs the hell out of me). The reason of the sale is because of her RL bday, so happy birthday Miss London Dailey.

To Tell You the Truth, I'm Moody Today

No, not really moody... even if I was switching from happy (yay! finished earlier today!) to annoyed/bugged (more about that in the rest of the post).

So, first bugging moment of the day was when I found out Stiletto Moody was giving out a freebie. Don't start running yet, there's a catch. It's only for group members and the group is closed. What the...?! All we were getting from that group was notice about new releases and then BAM! they get a free pair of shoes. I left it a while ago (after the end of season sale). 25 groups = I won't waste it on a no giftie group. But noooo, now they have a gift. At least for the sale, Mrs Moody had placed a huge poster in front of her store before, saying that would be a group only thing. Would have been nice to say : "Hey, in X days I'm gonna give you guys a special gift, so join the group before I close it." Meh, I still prefer my Maitreya Gold shoes. Stiletto Moody bare were great when they were the only prim feet in SL. But now, you find more prim feet, most of them just as good looking (SLink, Anexx, Aoharu) or even better looking (Maitreya Gold) than the Moody ones. Also, they don't cost as much. Oh, and I do have a pair of Moody to compare them with the others. The Greta Bare... Were more expensive than the Bax boots which has the auto-fitting script that is a gift sent from heaven (no, I'm still not over it :P)

Now on to the second bugging part of my day. Truth increased his prices. From 225 to 250. Oh sure, I hear you, it's "just" 25L$ more. But buy 4 Truth hair and the difference will be of a 100L$. Those L$ could be spent buying cute tops from !Ohmai (I've been eyeing them for a while now). Sure, he added one more hair color in each pack. I did the math, per hair color, it lowered the cost. BUT, I just use one hair color. So, instead of paying 225 for the hair color I'm gonna use plus 3 other colors, I'm gonna pay 25L$ extra for another hair color, that I won't even use. Call me cheap, I don't care. It's just that we're in recession time, not prosperity time. As far as I know, there hasn't been any inflation. Yes, I know, Lamb and 69 both sell their color packs at around 300L$ each. But they haven't increase their prices, it always costed that as far as I know.

What the best solution would be? Offering colors individually. It would be more affordable (unless you decide to sell the hair color 400L$), noobs and tight-budget avs could buy the original stuff. Color packs could still be sold, but an option for avs with a low budget would be great. Or for the avs who got their SL salary cut and now have to rethink how they shop. You may not notice how much you pay for a certain creation, but some do and they have to be careful about their budget. Just think about it. But eh, I'll still shop at Truth, still haven't bought that Trina hairstyle I wanted (which will now cost me 250L$... damn it).

Mmmm, felt good to vent a little. It inspires me for blog posts... go figure why. Nooo, I'm not an angry girl. Just need to vent every once and a while about a random topic.

Yesterday, I went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. It was Fantastic. Would be great if an SL designer did a costume or something inspired from the Rockettes' costumes. It would just be nice for Christmas to have something other than the usual sexy santa or naughty elf costume for a change.

When You Wish Upon A Star

Nothing much happened yesterday nor so far today. I found out why Monkey needed all the info regarding POTC online, I had fun looking at a model application (it's really a blast to comment on what applicants write... even if it's a bit mean) and I ate homemade cupcakes *smacks Monkey before he takes any*

I still adore my new boots, hence why I kept them for today's outfit. I'm also wearing yesterday's hairstyle, but that's because I noticed at the last minute that I was still wearing it and I'm a very lazy person. Anyway, it goes with the outfit.

Now, most of you I'm sure must have seen the intro of the Wonderful of Disney. If not, well, look at the video at the end of the post. Today's LOTD was inspired from said intro, but more precisely the part where Tinkerbell appears in front of the castle at the beginning. Since I already used my Tinkerbell costume for the Halloween post, I decided to use another fairy costume.

I go them, I got them!!! What? Oh! The BAX Prestige Boots. Everyone looked like they had a pair, so had to have one too. Got the black version because I totally have a thing for black shoes. At first, the price was setting me off (875L$), but since yesterday was my 1000th day in SL, I decided to treat myself.

I have to say that it's the best investment I ever made. The auto-fit script is a dream come true! Everything should have that script in it. It would be so practical! A click of a button and voilà! the boots fit you like a glove. I'm never gonna take them off. Ever. If you can afford them, run like the win and buy them... now!

Enough with the boots for now. Kenzie & Co (Penrose 90/52/22) is having a 50% off sale to celebrate the designer's 22nd bday. Would have bought everything if it hadn't been for my low budget. Happy birthday Miss Kenzie Craven! I found out yesterday that monkey is incapable (or just too lazy) to do a research all by himself. Now the question is: did he join POTC online after I made a research to provide him with all the info he needed to know? Meh, at least he said thanks.

Grim Grinning Ghosts

BOO!

Did I scare you? No? Oh well... Today I'm a 1000 days old. YAY! I'm ooold... Hence why I headed straight to the Haunted Mansion to make me feel younger. All those old ghosts... coming out to socialize...

So, today's LOTD was inspired from the costumes of the cast members that work at the Haunted Mansion in Orlando (no idea if the uniforms are the same elsewhere...). I decided to go with that little dress from katat0nik which I got in December 2008. I love katat0nik. It's my fav place for cute short and poofy dresses. Anyway, mainly chose that dress because of the green (color of the costumes) and because of the little skulls, which I thought were appropriate for the Haunted Mansion.

YoHo YoHo, A Pirates Life for Me

Nooooo, I don't want to steal. Nor do I want rum... I just want to be as cool as Jack Sparrow (won't happen, but a girl can dream... no?)

Most of you probably know this, but the POTC movies were based on the attraction of the same name that you can find in every Disney Park (except in Hong Kong Disneyland). Mouse World has a replica of said attraction. Only, in the real Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, you can find Davy Jones, Barbossa and the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow. There's even an online game, free to join and quite interesting to play... 'course, to gain access to more stuff, you need to pay (it's Disney after all).

I admit it, I'm a Disney girl. I loooove anything Disney. Except Hannah Montana... but that's because Miley Cyrus gets on my nerves. Anyway, the first time I discovered Mouse World I was overly happy. I still remember being sad when I heard VMK would be closing down and hoping someone, somewhere would do something Disney-related in SL.

The Cinderella Castle is beautiful, the Haunted Mansion is fantastic and the Peoplemover is perfect when you want to sit your av somewhere while you do something else. There are many more attractions, but I'm not here to make a free publicity for Mouse World.

Anyway, since I'm starting to miss WDW, especially after seeing all those vids on YouTube showing the holiday celebrations over there, I decided that, for this week, I would take all my LOTD pics at Mouse World.

Sale at Nyte n Day (more or less my style, but saw that cute red dress that I could wear with my green LeLutka leggings for an Xmas look), another one at Sn@tch (50-70% off everything except on the new releases... 110L$ for 8 tops? Count me in XD), one at ~flirt~ (might go... don't really wear jewelries, but they make nice things, so if the prices are good, might buy) and another one at PixelDolls (everything 50L$...).

In other words, it was a pretty busy weekend for bargain lovers like me. But I have to remind myself to not spend too much if I want to spend a whole lot of L$ at the shoe fair while crashing, courtesy of the horrible lag that's going to be present for sure. I haven't even bought the Trina hairstyle from Truth yet... shoes win over hats. I wonder if there is a girl out there who doesn't like shoes...

YAY! I can shop again!

So, during the 6th and the 7th I didn't blog, I didn't shop (well... sorta), I didn't upload and I didn't sell. For the shopping, I only bought the stuff I wanted from the 50L$ Friday... I had too... my L$ were whispering "Spend us... Spend us... You know you want to...". I know, I should've resisted the urge, but I love a good bargain and I love shopping, so just had to do it. But that's the only shopping I did. I tried to keep myself busy, slowly realizing that I had an unhealthy relationship with shopping. 'Course, Truth had to release new hairstyles during those two days, including one with a fedora hat that I had to have, but didn't buy it straight ahead for 2 reasons: 1) no shopping for 48 hours and 2) was going to discuss my pay cut with my boss so have to rearrange the way I'm gonna shop now *pouts*. I might never get those overly expensive but oh so lovely BAX Prestige Boots... If only they had a demo of those boots, just to see if I really like them on me. /me waves goodbye at all the pretty shoes she could have at the shoe fair.

Oh well, at least I still have my "PR" job and my modeling job (Yay for having 2 jobs! XD).

SL Profile junk...

I have to admit, I love looking at SL profiles. You can find so many fun stuff in them. Unfortunately, you also find crap in those profiles.

First thing that I see in profiles and that makes me go "WTF?!" is the infamous "My groups are hidden. k.thx. bye." group. May I remind you that we have a limit of 25 groups. You idiot waste one of those spaces for a group that says you're hiding all your groups... idiot. Like I care which group you are part of. I don't mind people hiding the groups they are part of... it's joining that group to say that your groups are hidden that I consider being the supreme act of idiocy. 25 groups limit = can't waste one for a useless group.

The second thing that bugs me is when I see those lil Taken and Single thing in a profile. Dude, if you have someone in that partner box that is in everyone's profile, you don't need to clarify that you are taken. When we see a name there, the logic conclusion is "He/She is taken". Same thing goes when there's no name in the box and you clarify that you are "Untaken/Single". I would have never guessed. On the other hand, if the person in your partner section is just a friend (some people do that), then I don't care if you clarify that you are single and same thing apply if your partner box is empty when you are really taken.

Other things bug me, but those two things really are the major things that make me roll my eyes and grumble "pathetic" when I see them.

Bad day, 25 groups and where are my L$?!

Today was a bad day... felt like I should have stayed in bed. Then I thought my day would be saved because of the sale at Truth (25 L$ for regular packs on really old hairstyles), but only one hairstyle interested me. Then I tried to buy L$, but my precious weren't delivered to me yet (I payed and everything, but nothing, nada, rien.) So so much for my shopping therapy.

Now, I read today that very interesting blog post that Miss Alicia Chenaux wrote. It was about that 25 group limit we are all stuck with and the groups that are really interesting are pay groups or eventually become pay groups, like LeLutka for which you know have to pay 250L$ to get in. Me? Got in for free as soon as it opened. Stayed because something was telling me it would eventually become a pay group. Other groups are invite only... like RP groups. In fact, for one RP, you can be a member of ten groups. One group for the RP, one group for the house you're in, one group for the Quid team, one for the Quid club, one for the house's dueling team, one for a class, one for another class... you get the picture. And that's just in an HP RP. Most RPs have a million in-world groups you can join... most of which could easily be transformed into SoM groups... I mean, hell, can we have a life outside of RP and join other groups that actually give us great free stuff. In all my 25 groups, there are only 4 I could leave and come back to with just the simple click of a button and no L$ spent. Thing is, I don't want to leave those groups... what if they send something great the next day? I say that the Lindens put that 25 group limit to ruin our fun. Oh, and RP folks, if you want to help, stop creating so many groups we don't need anyway.

Cheap LeLutka and a rectangular Quidditch pitch?!

Yes, 70% off! For example, the Clipping Dress I'm wearing in the LOTD pic is now only 99L$. I paid it full price... In fact, it's the first item I bought from LeLutka. Now, the rectangular Quidditch pitch. So, monkey TPed me over to that old HP RP sim today to show me the most horrible Quid pitch. It was rectangular. Said sim is now owned by another HP RP... Just want to say one thing: Seriously?! A rectangular pitch?! Haven't you read the books, seen the movie and RPed in other HP places?! It isn't football or basketball, it's Quid! Even the master of Quidditch (mostly reffered as the Monkey) thought it looked horrible!So please, for the love of Quid, make that damn pitch oval! Thank you.

A walk down memory lane (such a cheesy title)

So, after taking my LOTD pic, I was bored and, even if I should have kept reading my math textbook, I decided to go through the in-world pictures I have. God! After seeing a pic of me back when I was roleplaying a 1st year Gryff, my first reaction was "GAH! Why did I ever wear that shape? Why didn't I adjust it to look less... anorexic?" Then I saw a pic of monkey when he was blond... Didn't recognize him at first. All those pic reminded me of how my look and the one of my friends changed as time passed. Only Jody never really changed. Monkey changed skin and his hair color is now brown. Jadz also changed skin and switch from bright purple hair to lavender hair. I changed skin... many times... Started with an unknown freebie skin, then switched to Another Skin, followed by a Tuli skin, a Rockberry Skin, a LeLutka Skin, a Belleza Skin (first skin for which I bought a makeup), a Laqroki Skin (first skin for which I bought the fatpack), another LAQ Skin, an Atomic Skin and, finally, another Atomic Skin. As for my hair color, I was always a brunette.

Anyway, those pics not only reminded me of the evolution of our looks, but of everything we've been through... Who knew so much could happen in a bit less than 2 years. The different roleplays, the different conflicts, the different friends... Roleplaying seems so distant to me as I lost interest... Conflicts are always gonna be around (especially when I'm stubborn, bad tempered and prone to tell everything that's on my mind even if it might get me in deep shit)... As for my friends, who knew I would become friend with a girl who tends to not take things seriously while I take everything seriously, who knew I would become friend with a guy who destroyed my ego by killing me at Quid and who just happens to nearly be my complete opposite and who knew my SL best friend would be a girl I once despised. I realize SL isn't just a game... just like RL, it's full of surprises.

Today is the one day of the year when we can dress up as we want (without being part of any RP community). We can be a sexy nurse, a witch, a princess, a fairy, a fashion mistake, etc. My first idea for today was to dress up as a witch. After all, the name of this blog is "The random, the witch and the inventory". So, my plan was to be a witch and take my LOTD pic at The Corn Field (the place where the Lindens were sending the naughty avs, which they opened up for the general public for Halloween). That was my plan until I got a notecard from !Ohmai's SoM regarding another Halloween hunt. I decided to take a look at the prize !Ohmai was giving for said hunt and BAM! I had found the perfect costume for this very special day. If you have some free time today, I suggest you go and do the Black Market Halloween Hunt. You have to find 24 pumpkins, click on them and answer the question they are going to ask correctly.

Finally, 50L$ Friday is here! So many things to buy... for girls that is. Only 4 stores offer something that guys can buy: Reek, NINIKO, Tyranny Designs and Tiny Bird. Monkey's recommendations: NINIKO and Tyranny. As for Reek, I personally recommend it if you like fun accessories.

Now, the 5th of November. I'm sure that most of you know what content theft is. If not, well, content theft is basically when one individual with no moral sense copies the creation of a designer without his/her permission and resells it or give it out for free. It is illegal as it is basically copyright infringement. Unfortunately, content thieves always seem to be around the grid. What is more shocking is seeing people wearing ripped off item or, worse, distributing them around to random people "ignoring" the fact that what they are giving is a rip off copy. I have a hard time believing people saying "I didn't know". Yah right, like it didn't ring a bell when someone handed you a box full of hairstyles from known stores and that it cost you nothing. Thankfully, there is now a group called "Artist's Voice" that was created to educate people about content theft and prevent such a thing to happen.

So, the 5th November, they are asking creators, shoppers and bloggers to stop creating, selling, shopping, uploading and blogging for 48 hours. Why? To show the Lindens that we do care about content theft and copyright infringement. How would you react if something you created was copied and resold without your permission? I'm sure monkey wouldn't shrug and say "Whatever" (his usual reaction to anything) if some twat copied his precious TV that took him a decade to make and gave it out for free or resold it.

For the creators, 48 hours without selling anything is nothing compared to the money and time you loose when someone decides to rip off your creations. For the shoppers, you can survive if you don't buy something for 2 days... hell, it doesn't include the free items, so use those 2 days to get those free items. True, one of those two days is the 50L$ Friday, but maybe they'll move it to Saturday. As for the bloggers, take that small break to explore the grid, bake cookies, read books or study.

So STOP! on the 5th to show that you care.

Two blog posts, a hunt and review copies...

So, yesterday I read two very interesting blog posts. The first one was from Miss Alicia Chenaux (my fav blogger) who was explaining how it is to be shy in SL. I could totally relate to what she was writing except that I don't talk to people first (except with Jody) because I fear I might bug them. I don't feel like I have to entertain anyone.

The other blog post that caught my attention was about bloggers getting free items (also known as review copies) and if readers are bothered by that. I have to say I don't give a monkey's butt the bloggers get free stuff. Hell, if they didn't we would probably get less fashion news with nice pictures. If designers do that, it's because they want to bring some attention on their store for free. It's a win-win situation. I also know for a fact that fashion bloggers don't blog everything they get since my first job was to send out review copies of camping chair/sewing machines dresses. I had a list of blogs and bloggers and everyday I was checking those blogs as I was paid by the blog post. I didn't care if a blogger didn't blog the dresses I had sent. What bugged me on the other hand is if they told me they would blog it and ended not saying a word about it. That was just plain rude. As for me getting review copies, it didn't happen yet, but if I ever do get one, then I'll probably say something like "Designer X sent me a review copy of that lovely [thing that was sent]". All I have to say is don't judge the bloggers who get review copies as they worked hard and probably spent a certain amount of L$ before getting free stuff.

Now the hunt from [ATOMIC]. You HAVE to do it. It's overly easy and you get skins, hairs, tank tops, t-shirt (which I think are for guys as the shadowing looked weird on my av... MONKEY! go get the t-shirts and tell me what you think) and tattoos. The skin is really worth getting and I think that it might be the next skin release from [ATOMIC].

For the ones who don't know, Faith, Grace and Hope are 50% off because they are working on new skins. Since the Halloween hunt skin is name Baily, my personal theory is that it might be an upcoming new skin. I definitely plan on getting some make-ups if not the fatpack 'cause it's a young looking skin and I looooove the shape of the lips.

So, Halloween is a great time for freebie hunters as loads of designers give out some Halloween gifts. Some are also doing sales, like Ivalde. Haven't got any of those special treats yet, but should get them soon (probably Wednesday).
